Fast food delivery Chicago
Burger King may be launching delivery service in the Chicago area — a common practice for them and other fast food chains overseas, as we were reminded by readers on social media — but they aren’t the first to offer delivery of Whoppers and Big Macs and Frostys and Doritos Locos Tacos direct to your door.
Musician, producer, DJ and onetime Wicker Park enfant terrible Johnny Love (best known for his dance parties in the former Jerkstore) launched Fetch, which will deliver your favorite menu items from McDonald’s, Burger King, Five Guys, Wendy’s, White Castle and Taco Bell.
As Love told Chicagoist, this isn’t a case of taking advantage of people too lazy to buy a sack of sliders. It’s identifying an untapped market. “I hit on the idea for Fetch about two months ago, ” Love said via email, “after seeing a lot of my friends tweeting about wishing they could get Taco Bell but had no car to actually go get it themselves.” As someone who’s been known to hop on a train and go to Wrigleyville to visit the Taco Bell at Clark and Addison, I can empathize with that.)
Fetch has been up and running for about two weeks now and, according to Love, there are four delivery drivers and five delivery people on bicycles ready to schlep fast food orders to customers across a wide range of North side ZIP codes. “as we hire more delivery people we'll expand our area to include downtown as well to capitalize on people who don’t want to leave their office for lunch, ” Love said. There’s a $5.50 delivery charge and no upcharge on any of the items ordered.
