Lafayette becomes 12th Indiana market for grocery delivery company.

Green Bean Delivery will add Lafayette to its service area starting this month.

Lafayette becomes the 12th metro area in Indiana served by Green Bean, an online delivery service whose drivers plop coolers of fresh produce and organic groceries on customers’ doorsteps, usually once a week.

The Indianapolis company, founded in 2007, also serves parts of Ohio, Kentucky and Missouri. It uses a delivery concept that blends oldtime door-to-door truck routes with high-tech online ordering.

The company has capitalized on growing demand for locally grown organic produce and a comeback of the old concept of home delivery to become one of the Midwest’s largest online natural and organic grocery delivery services.

“It is our mission to make local and sustainable foods convenient, affordable and accessible, ” said Shane Towne, president of BEAN LLC, the parent company.

Green Bean grows much of its locally obtained produce on leased ground in Hamilton County.
